Daniel Smith PrimaTek Watercolor 15ml

DANIEL SMITH created the PrimaTek line of paints, made with minerals, some semiprecious, from a cache of lapis lazuli in 1998. We have a mineralogist who sources the minerals, which we process into pigment and then grind into watercolor. PrimaTek paints express themselves with magnificent granulation, providing a sense of movement and depth that some artists have described as magical.

Formulated to meet and exceed the highest industry standards, each batch is thoroughly tested for performance characteristics: lightfastness, color value, color strength, clarity, intensity, undertone, particle size, density, and viscosity. Paint anything you imagine with vibrant, consistent colors that are easily intermixable for even greater variation.

Color swatches in each photo:
Starting with 10 parts water to 1 part paint (by weight) on the palette, our chemist paints the top half of the sample evenly with a round brush to demonstrate the paint's color and characteristics. For the bottom half, he dips a 3/4" flat brush into the paint reservoir once and applies the color in strips until the brush dries, allowing the color's tone and behavior to be appreciated through a wash. We use these samples for color matching during the manufacturing process.
